Phoebe Locke

Eventing Star

Phoebe is 19 years old and was born in Somerset. She started her career in show jumping and competed at Horse of the year show and Hickstead in the national 128 and 138 classes for six consecutive years, as well as winning at Olympia on her pony “Dynamite Diggy".

At the age of 8 years old, Phoebe made her debut on the England Show Jumping team on her pony "Just Cyber Space" and continued representing her country for a further 5 years at 128 and 138 level, winning many Gold and Silver medals. After only owning her two new event ponies for 8 months, her talents were recognised by the selectors and she was chosen to be part of the Great Britain squad to travel to the European championships in Millstreet, where the team won the Silver medal.

In her first year of Eventing Phoebe was also awarded the best 14 and under event rider in GB, by the board of selectors. Phoebe also attended Millfield School and in 2014 helped the school to win the prestigious national schools show jumping championships (the first time the school had won this in 42 years). She was also awarded the Girls Sports Performer of the Year 2015, in recognition of her contribution to Millfield sport and beyond during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Finally, to finish off her pony career she was again picked to represent Great Britain at the European championships in Malmo, Sweden where she was an integral part of the Gold medal winning team. Phoebe has now started another chapter and has now moved on to horses. Her goal at the start of 2016 was to represent Team GB at the junior European Championships in Montelibretti Italy. Amazingly Phoebe managed to achieve this (and was the first person to move from ponies to horses and represent Team GB in consecutive years since 2005) and was an integral member of the Bronze Medal Team in Italy in September 2016.

In 2017 Phoebe was again selected to represent GB at her fourth consecutive European championships where this time the Team won Silver and Phoebe was fifth individually and the only team member to finish on her dressage score.

This season Phoebe has a string of 6 horses and has already racked up some impressive results including 3 wins at intermediate and CCI2*s. Phoebe is aiming for the Europeans this season as well as the prestigious 8/9 year old CCI4* at Blenheim as well as other internationals throughout the year.

She was recently crowned the British U21 National Champion.
